The owner, Erik Koefoed, was the first baker to introduce New York Style Bagels to the Nation’s Capitol in September of 1981 with the opening of the original The Georgetown Bagelry on M Street in DC and the Georgetown Bagelry on River Road In Bethesda, Maryland. Being a natural baker Erik next opened the Palisades Pizzeria and Clam Bar in September of 2001. He did it again by being the first to introduce New York Style thin crust and thick crust pizza to DC. Erik’s signature as a restaurant owner is that he has a staff that dates back thirty years ago to the original Georgetown Bagelry. He and his staff bake all of the pizza dough, rye, white, and wheat bread FRESH on the premises. His quarter-pounder all beef hot dogs wrapped in fresh pizza dough and baked to crispy perfect sell out daily. Erik continues his baking tradition of over thirty years by introducing New York Style Reuben, turkey, corn beef, and pastrami sandwiches to the menu.
